81 days until kickoff! That means it’s time for another edition of The Men Behind the Numbers. Today we venture back into the tight end room to spotlight one of the more overlooked players in recent Ohio State history. In fact, Nick Vannett may be one of the most underappreciated tight ends to ever come through Columbus. Maybe it’s because he shared the field with another talented tight end in Jeff Heuerman. Maybe it’s because he played during the peak of Zone 6’s dominance, when the spotlight naturally gravitated toward Ohio State’s explosive wide receivers. Whatever the reason, the Westerville native was an important piece of some very good Buckeye teams.
