Carlos Locklyn came to Ohio State in April of 2024 from the University of Oregon. The common consensus was that the hire was going to be nothing but a good thing. The hiring came as a result of Tony Alford leaving for the University of Michigan, while he was entering the final year of his contract. Alford was known to focus on a select group of recruits, mostly South Florida kids it seemed. Alford would obtain the verbal commitment of one of them and then get left at the altar as signing day would near. That forced multiple pivots on the trail. Couple that with injuries due to a lack of rotation most seasons and a change was needed.
