Luke Fahey’s first career start came under difficult circumstances. A true freshman making his first start on the road against USC, with the pressure of keeping Ohio State’s season on track, was never going to be an easy assignment.

But here’s where I come down on Fahey: I believe Ohio State can win with him at quarterback.

Saturday night wasn’t perfect, and there are certainly things he needs to clean up. But I saw enough to believe Fahey is capable of leading this offense and giving Ohio State a chance to win games against quality opponents.

Fahey finished 21-of-38 for 260 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. He showed flashes of confidence, made some throws and continued competing despite playing from behind for most of the night. He wasn’t the reason Ohio State lost, but he also wasn’t able to make enough plays to get the Buckeyes over the top.
