COMMITTED: OG Walt Keeps the Momentum as Jaden Carey commits to the Buckeyes!!
The 4-star Corner is the 35th ranked player in Florida and the 42nd ranked cornerback recruit in the 247Sports composite rankings.
The train is picking up steam. After not having a cornerback commit in the 2027 class, the Buckeyes have picked up 2 since Sunday. Fort Lauderdale (FL) native Jaden Carey has committed to the Buckeyes, joining Massillon (OH) corner Deontay Malone who issued his commitment on Sunday. Carey is the son of late Miami DB Marcus Carey, who played at The U with current Canes Head Coach Mario Cristobal.
The St. Thomas Aquinas standout is a four-star cornerback who has been one of the fastest-rising defensive backs in the 2027 cycle. At roughly 6-foot and 165 pounds, Carey possesses the length that Ohio State covets at the position while also displaying the fluidity and athleticism needed to play man coverage against elite receivers. He has been heavily pursued by programs such as Miami, Auburn, Notre Dame, Oregon, Florida, and Ole Miss before narrowing his focus to Ohio State and a handful of finalists.
On the field, Carey’s biggest strength is his natural coverage ability. He changes direction effortlessly, stays connected to receivers throughout routes, and has the recovery speed to erase mistakes. He’s not the type of corner who relies solely on athleticism, either. His film shows a player with strong instincts, good route recognition, and a willingness to compete at the catch point. Those traits fit perfectly with what Tim Walton has developed in recent years at Ohio State.

Perhaps most importantly, Carey comes from the St. Thomas Aquinas pipeline. The Fort Lauderdale powerhouse consistently produces college-ready prospects who understand how to compete at a championship level. Players coming from that program arrive with advanced technique, experience against elite competition, and a professional approach to preparation. The Buckeyes are no strangers to the STA pipeline as Nick and Joey Bosa, Damon Arnette, and Nate Salley are all alums of Aquinas.
For Ohio State, Carey projects as a true cover corner with the athletic upside to develop into an NFL prospect. His combination of length, speed, ball skills, and football IQ makes him one of the more intriguing defensive back additions in the class, and he has all the tools to become the next standout in the Buckeyes’ long line of NFL-caliber corners.
